Mitch Winchester, Liver Transplant Recipient, 2008
When his liver suddenly failed in December of 2008, Mitch and his family were stunned. “In what seemed to me a split second, my life was different.” But thanks to the team at University Transplant Center, Mitch received a liver transplant on December 29, just a few days before the New Year. An active father of three children, ages four, six and eight, Mitch is enjoying life. Just three months after his transplant, he was coaching his son’s baseball team. He has coached his kids’ basketball teams every year and is a football and baseball coach at Johnson High School. Mitch is enrolled in Texas A&M for his Master’s degree in education and hopes to graduate this summer.
