University Transplant Center has surgical teams standing by 24 hours a day, seven days a week. When word arrives that a liver is available for donation in any of our area hospitals, our teams are available to consult or assist with obtaining the organ and safely transporting it to the patient designated by our UNOS OPO coordinators. We also have coordinators monitoring the OPO for available organs, ready to notify patients and the Transplant Team when a liver is coming for one of our patients. When you come up on the list, we’ll be ready to transplant your new liver.
